Let's talk about sustainability and why it's so important in this day and age. We all know that the Earth is our only home and it's up to us to take care of it. One way we can do that is by being conscious of our consumption and making sustainable choices. Apart from the big ones, like eating a healthy, veggie based diet, trying to reduce energy usage, drive less, cycle + walk more yada yada yada. We could speak about it all day. What we can do, pretty easily, is try to shop in charity shops, share with friends, not buy new clothes at all, or, buy stuff from a vintage shop. LIKE OURS!!

A quick line on fast fashion brands, we all know them. Shein, BooHoo, H&M, Zara, Pretty Little Thing, the list goes on. We all love a good deal, but have you ever stopped to think about the true cost of those cheap clothes? Fast fashion brands are notorious for greenwashing themselves. What's "Greenwashing" it's when companies make false or exaggerated claims about their environmental efforts to make themselves appear more sustainable than they actually are. It's like putting a band-aid on a broken leg. From human rights issues, to pure and utter waste, dumping the FREE returns? and pushing people into thinking they need the 'newest' trends. That will be replaced one week later. It makes us sick.

That's why it's important to do your own research and not just take a brand's word for it. Look for certifications like Fair Trade, GOTS, and B Corp that ensure ethical and sustainable production.

But what can we do as individuals? It's tough, we know. It seems insurmountable the scale of change that has to occur. Well, one way to combat fast fashion is by shopping pre-owned and vintage clothing. Not only is it a sustainable choice, but it's also a great way to show off your unique style! Plus, vintage clothing is often made with better quality materials, which means it will last longer than those cheaply made fast fashion pieces. They're unique, you won't see everyone and their granny in them and how fun is it to find a super cool item that's over 20 years old! If you have never dug around a vintage shop, scrolled for ages on depop or had that experience in a charity shop. You NEED to have it.

In conclusion, sustainability is a crucial topic that affects us all. Let's make conscious choices and be aware of greenwashing tactics used by fast fashion brands. By shopping pre-owned and vintage clothing, we can combat fast fashion while also expressing our personal style. So let's embrace sustainable fashion and make the world a better place, one vintage piece at a time!
